Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samet Lo is Farhat Ishtiaq’s 2013 best selling novel and an upcoming Pakistan’s Netflix debut series.
The story revolves around main protagonist Sikander Shehryar who is suffering from insomnia in his early 30’s. The novel kickstarts with a scene of a nightmare that was haunting Sikander from over a decade. The story takes a turn when he meets Liza in Italy. Red haired Liza is a breath of fresh air, full of life. Liza was a painter and had Pakistani- Italian parents.
The story is more inclined towards the romantic aspect. However, it does discuss some vulnerable topics. The reason behind Sikander’s suffering is one of the most painful tragedy. Although, Liza did manage to heal some of his internal wounds, but there were few things that needed time to heal.
The story sets across three different continents. Sikander’s early life in the US, meeting Liza in Italy and ultimately ending up in Pakistan. The story beautifully shares the the essence of Italian Art, Architecture and culture.
While, the story flows through romance, there is an intrigue that keeps people hooked to the book. A mystery behind Sikander’s past and the climax.
The story offers romance, intrigue, travel, human emotions, sibling rivalry and much more.
Overall, Jo Bachay Hain Sang Samet lo is an interesting read. Each character is well crafted. Especially, the antagonist is one of the strongest villain ever written. To give an idea, it makes reader’s blood boil.
Novel turns Netflix series
Taking a step further, the novel is turning into a Netflix’s first Pakistan’s webseries. According to the sources, the series will be renewed for 3 seasons offering a good number of episodes.
The series will be shot in Pakistan, Italy and U.K. The casting includes Pakistan’s renowned faces. Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Sanam Saeed, Bilal Ashraf, Iqra Aziz, Hania Amir, Maya Ali are part of this big project.
The release date is not confirmed yet but the camera roll has begun in late 2023. Farhat Ishtiaq confirms that the characters will remain the same. However, there will be major changes in the storylines.
