“Jannat ke Patty”, A Masterpiece penned by Nemrah Ahmed.
Jannat ke Patty, a novel or an emotion? For some, it might be just another book but for many it is a piece of art that settled down in their souls, showing them the righteous path. We are going to touch down how it is a masterpiece of modern literature.
First of all, Jannat ke Patty is not an ordinary love story or a love triangle. The core of the story revolve around the importance of Hijab (veil or a piece of head scarf to cover), an important element for women in Islam. However, the story resonates with every individual. Weather you are a man or a woman, the story takes you on a roller coaster ride.
To briefly describe, the first half of the story revolve around the point of view of Haya Suleiman, a law student who gets the confirmation to study in Turkey as an exchange student for the next 5 months. Her journey throughout keeps the readers engaged. From the streets of Islamabad to the shores of Istanbul, the novel takes you on a breathtaking ride. The vivid description paints an unforgettable imagination in readers mind.
Jannay ke Patty is a Mystery Thriller which has twists after twists and each page is awaiting a surprise for the readers. To keep it spoiler free, we cannot discuss the major part of the novel. However, to give an idea, it made many readers to flip pages backwards. There are few scenes that will make you jump off the couch and some will make you shred tears.
The title holds a lot of importance which was beautifully explained in the book. Jannat ke Patty (the leaves of heavens) is not merely a piece of cloth that protects women (Hijab). It is anything that prevents humiliation.
The story affected thousands of people worldwide. I know many who started Hijab after reading. This shows the power and influence of books and writers should be very careful when writing anything. As a man, this story affected and influenced me greatly. It changed my thoughts regarding Hijab. Although I’m a bit ashamed to acknowledge that once I used to consider it backward and oppressing, but this story taught me the beauty of it and today the respect I have for all Hijabis is unmatched.
If you think this is a religious book from it’s name, then you are wrong. Although Hijab is the purpose of writing but it covers many aspects that keeps you hooked throughout the novel. Puzzle plays a major role in keeping everyone glued to the book. The solutions to them and the ultimate surprise gives reader a jaw dropping shock. The curiosity for Major Ahmed & Abdul Rehman Pasha will keep getting higher until the climax comes.
The second half parts covers the point of view of male lead , but wait! who is the the lead? Jihan Sikander? Major Ahmed? or Abdul Rehman Pasha?. Well, the answer is hidden in the book. For now, we will discuss Jihan’s character. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Jihan’s character is one of the most well established characters of all literature. His character made many of us mad in the beginning but his back story was thought provoking.
All character were loved by people but DJ (Khadija) and Ayeshe Gul character received the most love. Some loved little Baharey Gul but some regards her character indecent. Overall, Jannat ke Patty is roller coaster ride full of emotions, adventure, travel, mysteries and puzzles. It’s a well written novel by one of best writer of Pakistan. For me, it has a special place in my heart and it’s evergreen for me.
Alot of people request to make a drama out of this novel but the writer Nemrah Ahmed is very firm about her decision. She mentioned, she will never make a dramas out of her novels, unless she meets a team that she finds perfect… which is hardly possible. She also mentioned that novel is written for readers and dramas are for watcher. Both involves writing but they are different.
